Nearing completion in Barcelona's Poblenou District is a thoughtfully reimagined apartment that breathes new life into a century-old listed building.

Situated in a structure dating back to the turn of the 20th century, this three-bedroom residence showcases the area's rich architectural heritage while embracing modern living. The apartment is one of few examples in Barcelona that beautifully marries original Catalan vaulted ceilings with contemporary design, creating a unique living space that respects its historical roots.

Barrel-vaulted ceilings and exposed brick walls inexorably bind the dwelling to its past, forming an intriguing backdrop for the newly reconfigured living spaces. These elements are visually offset by sleek, modern interventions that contrast with the building's original character. Distinguishing features include the fan-shaped beams traversing the ceilings, a sliding door repurposed from original ornate Catalan doors, and a cleverly designed freestanding unit that serves both the kitchen and living.

Alongside the honest and textural exposed brickwork, a material palette comprises refurbished encaustic tiles, double-glazed windows in traditional frames, and warm, natural finishes throughout. The architects have deftly navigated the apartment's unusual geometry, transforming awkward spaces into functional areas that celebrate the home's unique character.
